County jail reports low census and continued use of contracted medical and treatment services

County corrections officials told the Northampton County Council that the county jail's inmate census is 484 and that the facility continues to rely on subcontracted medical and treatment services.
"Inmate census? We are at, 484 as of today," the corrections director said, noting the count had been in the 460s recently (00:19:27).
Corrections staff confirmed the county uses PrimeCare for medical services under a contract that runs through approximately 2027, and named LEAP and Pinebrook as treatment providers. The department also contracts with Easton Area High School for the jail GED program.
The corrections director listed subcontracted services as including residential placements, mental health, education and substance-use treatment programs; the county pays for placement costs when a resident must go to an outside facility.
No budget votes were taken; the discussion was part of the departmental operating budget review.
