The Waupaca City Planning Commission on Nov. 5 recommended that the City Council approve Resolution 15-83, which would amend the city's 2023 comprehensive plan future land use map in three small, technical ways.
Juliana Stosz, community and economic development director, said the first amendment would change 216 South Franklin Street (the Waupaca Curling Club property) from parks and conservation to community mixed use to reflect the site's current recreational use; staff anticipates a rezone application to follow. The second amendment places a north corner parcel of Rotary Riverview Park into parks and conservation to conform the map with the rest of the park. The third amendment aligns a small parcel that was merged into a nearby natural area by designating it parks and conservation instead of neighborhood mixed use.
Stosz told the commission the changes are largely clean-up items to make the future land use map consistent with current uses and recent property acquisitions; the Water Street parcel was acquired by the city within the last two years. There were no public comments on these items during the hearing.
A motion to recommend Resolution 15-83 to the City Council carried by voice vote.
If approved by the council, the map changes will allow staff to proceed with matching rezonings where needed and to bring the city's zoning and comprehensive plan into alignment for the affected parcels.
