Cowlitz County reports near-complete HVAC work at Hall of Justice; modular walls installed in district court

Savannah Clement of Cowlitz County Public Services told commissioners the Hall of Justice HVAC and associated mechanical work are nearly complete, with the remaining punch-list mostly limited to replacing a few ceiling tiles.
"We're about 90% complete in the basement area and about 99% complete in d, and the only outstanding items in those areas are just some installation of some ceiling tiles," Clement said (00:05:38). She said departments report visible improvements and that completed areas now appear brighter and more usable.
Staff also reported using a new vendor for modular wall panels in district court. Clement said the modular panels look and perform more like permanent walls, cost roughly one-third less than previous Correctional Industries quotes, and remain movable if future remodels require it. She added staff will include minor insulation boards to reduce sound transfer at join lines.
Commissioners discussed coordinating walkthroughs of completed spaces with the clerk of the board and noted earlier concerns about noise and scheduling have been largely addressed. Clement said the county meets daily with affected departments during the project and that maintenance staff have been satisfied with recent performance.
