Two-way downtown conversion scheduled to begin 5 a.m. Thursday; police to assist during transition

Staff updated the council on the downtown two-way traffic conversion, including a detailed operational timeline and traffic-control plans. "The green light is 5AM on Thursday," Brian (staff member) told the council, adding that contractors were working from Marquette River Drive to change signs and clean up markings.
Staff said pavement lane-line markings would be spray painted the day before and that subcontractors would remove signal coverings. "We'll have staff down there as well. 5AM, we'll have the subcontractor for the signals. We'll have the general contractor, and, PD will be, loaning us 4 officers down through the corridor to make sure everything goes off without a hitch," Brian said.
The update was informational; staff did not request council action at the Nov. 4 meeting.
