Modern Woodland project split into smaller bids to fit CIF/SIF funding, staff says

Council members asked staff for more information about the Modern Woodland projects and available funding. A staff presenter said plans and specifications were prepared about a year ago and the overall project came in over budget, so engineering divided the work into smaller packages to keep costs within available Capital Improvement Fund (CIF) and Street Improvement Fund (SIF) allocations.
"We have five items and we're hoping to get at least three of them done, but if the bids come in favorable, we could perhaps do all of them," staff said. Staff characterized the work as critical to the facility for flood protection and other age-related repairs and said the city will track roll-forward funding to confirm available balances.
Alderman Dunn asked about the total funding available in CIF/SIF and staff said the available amount was "less than 450" (the transcript did not supply a full dollar figure). Staff committed to reviewing the roll-forward balances and returning with specific funding detail when the project returns to council for action.
