Garden City developer and mayor ask county to fix parcel mapping; commission tables annexation question to December

Garden City Mayor Mitch Polson and developer Tanner presented a parcel on Sweetwater Parkway that appears inside Garden City on local maps but is shown on county tax notices as outside city limits. The discrepancy affects development approvals, water and sewer availability, and a buyer’s due-diligence deadline for a candidate purchaser.
City and county staff reviewed property maps during the meeting; surveyors noted that some cadastral corners and earlier records have not been geo-rectified, creating mismatches between the recorded legal descriptions and the aerial mapping. City and county staff agreed to search the recorder’s annexation descriptions and property records and to coordinate corrections if the discrepancy is clerical.
Commissioners agreed to table the item for further research and to put the item on the Dec. 2025 agenda after the county recorder (Kaya) and county staff investigate recorded annexation descriptions, parcel mapping and tax-roll entries. Developers asked for a timely resolution because their property due-diligence deadline falls in February 2026.
