Pam Bellman, a candidate for Peabody’s school committee who appeared on PVD TV’s Election Night coverage, said education is her passion and described a professional background that includes teaching, school administration and practicing education law.
“Education is my passion,” Bellman said. She described her experience representing children and families across Massachusetts and said that running for school committee was a decision driven by concerns about local school culture, teacher morale and post-COVID challenges facing students.
Bellman told hosts she wants the committee to examine the district’s climate and spending decisions, “to make sure we’re getting the best bang for the buck,” and urged more transparent, open inquiry and follow-up questioning from committee members. She said teachers should be treated as experts and given safe opportunities to speak openly without fear that their jobs are in jeopardy.
Bellman also thanked volunteers, family members and voters in her on-air remarks and described election-day energy at polling sites. She said the campaign required personal sacrifice but that she hoped voters would value her education experience.
The segment was an interview and personal account by a candidate; it did not include formal board actions or new district policies. Bellman’s comments described priorities she would pursue if elected.
