During the meeting’s public‑comment period, two parents and several supporters addressed alleged leadership and conduct problems in the Bonneville High School football program. Shauna Chavez described repeated incidents she said damaged player morale, recounted an internal investigation she called incomplete and said families had withdrawn expected player commitments because of the coach’s conduct.
Chavez told the board that some interactions in practice and games included public harassment of players, requests that a player be ejected in a final game and alleged that administration conducted a partial investigation that “spoke only to a select few” and left “most voices unheard.” Chavez ended her three‑minute turn before the timer expired.
Later in the public‑comment period, Vanessa Ahuvai, identifying herself as representing parents and players, said the head coach had been unable to retain or collaborate with staff, had taken on multiple coordinator roles without delegation, and that those management choices led to staff turnover and damage to player morale. Ahuvai said some players had indicated they would not play again for the current coach and asked district leaders for clarity about why the administration had chosen to retain the coach despite complaints and a prior investigation.
Board members did not respond during the public‑comment slot, following the board’s declared public‑comment practice. The comments were entered into the public record; the meeting moved on to other agenda items after public comment concluded.
