The board received an update on interim staffing and the search for a new general manager after the retirement of longtime general manager Greg Crossman.
"He didn't give us very much notice, but he retired. He did a great job for us in the 13 years he was here," the chairman said, noting the district has started active recruitment.
The chairman reported the district posted the position on LinkedIn, the League of Cities and Towns and the Arizona Water Association and has received several resumes. A selection committee that includes board member Sheila Amoroso, Secretary-Treasurer Kristen Cray and Gary Nees, who has worked with the water company for 23 years, is conducting interviews.
The board also approved the minutes from the June 3, 2025 Carefree Water Company and Utilities Community Facilities District meeting. A motion to approve the minutes was made, seconded and passed unanimously at the start of the meeting.
No formal hiring decision was made at the meeting. The chairman said the committee will continue interviews and return to the board with a recommendation when one is available.
