Tooele County Parks and Recreation Director Corey Bullock presented a budget request centered on reopening the Energy Solutions Aquatic Center and ensuring year-round operational readiness for outdoor-pool maintenance and related facilities.
Bullock said the department intends to reestablish seasonal pool staff that had been removed in 2025 and requested reclassifying two positions and moving one seasonal aquatics coordinator to a full-time aquatics rental supervisor role (common in parks operations to address nine months of pool-related activity including pre-opening and shutdown). He asked for funding to finish deferred capital work: an added pool heater, repairs to motorized-arena sound systems, targeted concrete work around Peak facilities and completion of indoor mechanical and locker-room items left after recent construction.
Bullock noted operational cost increases, particularly for chlorine and other supplies, and proposed modest concessions/resell adjustments to increase non-tax revenue from the facilities. He said the lap pool would be preloaded and held for 30 days as part of commissioning and testing prior to public opening.
Council members and staff discussed fee schedules and concessions as possible revenue sources to offset increased operating costs; the parks director said current single-entry prices ($4) may need reevaluation.
