The Parks & Recreation Commission voted to approve the draft minutes for the July 17 meeting with three corrections and took several procedural votes to place items on future agendas.
The commission approved the July 17 minutes with corrections to (1) the title of a public speaker who said she represented the city council on the public comment slip, (2) removal of an entry listing Ernesto Salinas as interim director in the call to order, and (3) deletion of an action-line mistakenly labeled "move to table." The motion to approve was seconded by Commissioner Flores and passed by voice/hand vote.
On a separate agenda item about possibly canceling meetings, staff advised that meetings cannot be permanently canceled and that cancellation of an individual meeting is handled on a month-by-month basis, often when a meeting falls within holiday weeks. The commission voted to table further discussion about canceling the November meeting until the October meeting.
Commissioners also voted to direct staff to compile simplified meeting schedules (start times, days, and typical end times) for other commissions for the past year and to place that report on the next agenda. The commission then voted to adjourn; the meeting ended at 5:28 p.m.
Vote details provided at the meeting were recorded by hand/voice; no roll-call tally with named yeas/nays was recorded in the transcript.
