Manitowoc School District board amends and approves higher facility rental fees, preserves youth and Legion waivers
Summary

The finance and facilities committee approved an amended facilities-fee schedule for district athletic and community-use spaces, increasing the proposed fee for the football and baseball fields to $350 per use and setting scheduled reviews every three years.
Michael, a district staff member who presented the proposal, said the district compared neighboring Eastern Wisconsin school districts and found rental rates have risen. "For next year, let's raise it up to $350 for the football and baseball field for usage," Michael said, adding the district would reevaluate rates periodically.
Board members amended the recommendation to keep existing fee-waiver provisions for MPSD and MYB and to preserve no-fee treatment for Legion Post 88 for the coming year because of the post's long-standing youth-service role in the community. Anne (board member) made the amended motion; another member seconded it. The board approved the amendment and then carried the motion by voice vote (ayes recorded; no recorded nays).
Staff said they will notify groups who have rented district spaces in recent years about the new schedule and will perform a more thorough comparison of peer-district rates with Stan Dietrich, the district's athletic director.
