Spanish Fork staff announced detailed plans this week for the new Fit City Center, including a public pre-grand opening and a phased launch of fitness and aquatic programming. City staff said the center will permit free public entry Monday–Wednesday, Dec. 8–10, to allow staff to test systems and train across full hours (5 a.m.–10 p.m.), hold a ribbon-cutting and dedication at 6 p.m. on Dec. 10, then continue celebration events Dec. 10–13 before opening officially for members on Monday, Dec. 15.

"This is our grand opening week," said Dale, a city recreation staff member, announcing the soft openings and the schedule for public tours and staff training. Staff said the front desk and partial turnstile are already in place at the temporary Fit City Center address (980 South Main Street), and the center began staffing and training earlier in the month: "we had about 150 of our 220 part-time employees come for a 3 hour training," Dale said, describing team-building and operational preparation.

The city also is offering "founder’s pricing" to early buyers. Nick Porter said, "Founder's pricing is a it's our current pricing. If you purchase on or before December 13, you'll get 2 months free. . . The founder's pricing is we're gonna keep that price locked for you for 5 years if you keep your membership current." Porter added that members purchasing early will receive help with cards and photos during soft openings.

Fitness and aquatics programs will begin on a phased schedule. Macy Taylor, fitness coordinator, said the initial offering includes about 55 instructors and roughly 65 classes per week; the full class schedule will be released to the public after soft-opening demos and will begin in earnest in January. Taylor said members and residents should reserve for high‑demand classes like indoor cycling, though drop‑in attendance will be accepted when space permits.

Aquatics staff said they have hired supervisory and lifeguard staff and have provisional clearance from the Utah County Health Department to run two of the three indoor pools during training. Robbie Gard, aquatics supervisor, said swim-lesson registration for members and residents opens at 8 a.m. on Nov. 17; private and semi-private lessons start Jan. 6, and group lessons will follow the next week. Gard said lessons will cost extra but that membership gives registration priority.

Staff asked residents to be patient during the pre‑opening period, noting the free days are intended to expose systems and staffing patterns to public use so problems can be fixed before the membership-required opening. City staff also announced the "FitCITY" trademark has been accepted through the public comment period and is pending registration.

Practical details: memberships and tours can be purchased or scheduled at the Fit City Center (980 S. Main) or online at spanishfork.gov/fitcity. Staff encouraged early purchase to secure founder benefits and swim-lesson priority.
