Azusa High students recognized for TrainFest internship project; district showcases student-made VR and mock passenger car

The Azusa Unified School District on Nov. 4 recognized Azusa High School students who interned with industry partners to design and build a life-size mock passenger coach and a virtual-ride demonstration for TrainFest 2025 at Los Angeles Union Station.
Assistant principals and career technical education staff credited paid internships that partnered students with Dionysio Tafoya of Dyonysus Creative, Peter Romero of Leonardo's Apprentice and a public information officer from the California High Speed Rail Authority. Assistant principal Robert Velasco and principal (represented) said 12 students worked across engineering, art, computer science and communications to produce the exhibit; several students were called forward to demonstrate VR goggles for board members.
Board members praised the students' technical abilities, teamwork and professionalism during remarks and presented certificates. Board member Benavides read the district certificate recognizing the project and the students selected across the Foothill consortium. Teachers and workforce partners were thanked; no board action was required.
