The Machesney Park Planning and Economic Development Committee on July 7 gave a positive recommendation for Ordinance 24-25, a special-use permit to allow outdoor storage at 10505 Forest Hills Road, and referred the measure to the village board for consideration on July 21.
Village planning staff told the committee the property has been zoned General Industrial since it was annexed into the village in 1985 and that the applicant, Henig, has applied to establish outdoor storage at the site. Staff recommended approval with conditions intended to minimize impacts on nearby residences, specifically citing controls for aesthetics, lighting and congestion. Staff also told the committee that the Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval.
Applicant representative Deepmar Golner of 7761 Monticello Drive, Belvedere, said he and his company are prepared to meet the permit conditions. "The conditions or the requirements that was laid out, at the previous meeting all seem reasonable. I see no reason why we couldn't comply with them," Golner said, and added the company had begun measures to address equipment noise "about a week and a half ago."
No members of the public addressed the committee on the item. After asking for public comment and hearing none, the chair called for a voice vote; committee members answered "aye" and no opposition was recorded in the meeting transcript. The chair said the item will go to the July 21 village board meeting with a positive recommendation.
If adopted by the village board, the special-use permit would authorize outdoor storage at 10505 Forest Hills Road subject to the conditions listed by staff; those conditions were described broadly in the committee meeting as measures to reduce visual, lighting and traffic impacts, but the specific written conditions were not read into the record at the July 7 meeting.
The committee also approved the minutes from its June 2 meeting earlier in the July 7 session and heard no additional reports or public comments before adjourning.
