Architect shows 3D model of Pine Bluff high school; board hears site progress

Lewis Architects and district facilities staff presented a working model and recent drone footage of the new Pine Bluff High School during the board meeting, describing the building's major spaces and circulation for students and the public.

Clayton Baden of Lewis Architects walked the board through the model, noting a secure courtyard between the arena and auditorium, a two‑story media center with collaborative and college‑and‑career areas, a bridge that connects the classroom wing and arena, and a career‑technical wing with a secure materials area. Facilities staff described recent progress on decking, roofing and arena framing and said the kitchen and cafeteria areas are taking shape.

"This will be more than big enough to to house the 900 students that we're planning for," Clayton Baden said, explaining how the arena and courtyard spaces were sized for both daily student use and after‑hours events.

Facilities also reported track work under way and said they are seeking bids for HVAC replacement at the junior high; the board was later asked to authorize the superintendent to purchase an HVAC unit for the ninth‑grade academy gym up to $50,600 if it is the lowest responsive bid.
