County staff told the Saratoga County Economic Development Committee on July 2 that the New York State Department of Labor awarded the county a performance incentive grant for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program in the amount of a little more than $50,000.
Staff said the grant is a performance incentive tied to meeting the program's performance measures and that the money will be placed into the county's training fund to subsidize costs for individuals pursuing upskill training. Committee members moved and seconded a resolution to accept the funds; the committee voted in favor and the resolution carried.
No additional conditions or allocations beyond the general training subsidy were detailed in the committee discussion. Staff indicated the award was unexpected and described it as "a nice little surprise."
