Council appoints Moran to fill Orangeville City Council vacancy

The Orangeville City Council appointed Moran to a vacant council seat Jan. 9 after conducting interviews with two candidates and casting ballots.

Moran, an applicant who said she grew up in Orangeville and holds a law degree from North Dakota, told the council she works for the state of Utah as a contract analyst and procurement agent and "review[s] contracts" and statutes as part of her job. She emphasized volunteer work in local schools and community events and said her legal research and mediation training would help in council work.

Council members questioned both candidates about prior community service, group decision-making and the qualities needed for a council member.
