Staff told the Evansville Historic Preservation Commission that 813 Southeast Riverside remains in the process of being offered for sale and that there had been no new buyer contacts since the last update.
On the city—s demolition-by-neglect initiative, staff and commissioners said letters and meetings with local realtors and occasional online outreach have been completed; commissioners recommended periodic (for example, semiannual) briefings to keep realtor partners and the mayor—s office engaged. Staff said some recipients confirmed receipt of letters, but there was no formal response log; commissioners asked staff to maintain a running record of responses going forward.
Commissioner Hooper reported follow-up outreach to the owners of two downtown restaurant buildings that suffered significant fire damage over the December holiday period (referred to in the meeting as the Sosst and Madeline's historic buildings). A commissioner said the second floors of both buildings appear to be "totally gone" and noted a cracked, leaning brick gable on Madeline's; commissioners asked whether tarping or a city structural assessment had been completed. Staff said they had not yet conducted personal site inspections and would follow up.
The commission had no other miscellaneous business and adjourned the meeting.
