Springville City Council on an unanimous roll call vote approved Ordinance 03-2025 to annex about 8,548 square feet (0.196 acres) at approximately 1520 East, 1200 South into the city and zone the parcel R110.
The annexation was presented to the council as a boundary-alignment plat needed so the subdivision could be processed: "all that you're voting on tonight is simply to accept, this annexation plat which would align this city boundary with this parcel boundary," Planner Josh said. The council opened a public hearing; no members of the public addressed the item before the council voted.
Staff explained the parcel is an unincorporated county "island" adjacent to Springville and that the municipal boundary was not contiguous with the parcel. Recorder Kim Crane and planning staff handled the statutory processing for the annexation. Councilmember Logan moved the ordinance; the motion was seconded and carried on a roll call with members recorded as voting yes: Jake, Craig, Mike, Logan and Mindy.
The annexation was taken as a consent-item public hearing due to the presence of an ordinance on the consent agenda. No conditions or amendments were recorded on the motion. The annexed area will be subject to the R110 zoning standards once the ordinance is effective and administrative steps are completed.
