Wetumpka City Council moved through a slate of routine business and took formal action on several items during its inaugural 2025–2029 meeting. Most motions were approved unanimously.
On consent: the council approved a service agreement for a garbage truck at a cost of $6,495 and authorized an update to the police department contract with Axon. Council members also approved the purchase of additional lights for downtown trees at a cost of $6,397. All three items were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The council designated the mayor pro tem and the city clerk as authorized signatories for checks and official documents, and it approved a list of official depository banks, including Valley Bank, First Community Bank, CD&S Bank, PNC Bank, Regions Bank, Truist Bank and River Bank & Trust.
Personnel actions: the council approved reappointments for the city clerk and treasurer and reappointed the fire chief and police chief via grouped resolutions. The city judge was reappointed in a subsequent separate motion; the judge was thanked by the mayor after the vote.
Business license and real estate: after a public hearing with no speakers for or against, the council approved an on-premises retail beer and wine license for Convenience LLC (operating as "Sweet 1") at 927 Company Street. The council also approved an extension to a purchase-and-sale agreement with 4 Coffee LLC, moving the closing date beyond an earlier October 31 target to later in the year.
Paving for Nolan Lane and Fire Station 1 was discussed but moved to the next meeting for further consideration. Most votes at the meeting were taken by voice with no opposition recorded; roll call at the start of the meeting recorded six members present, and council minutes reflect unanimous approval on the listed items.
