Springfield Township Board elects Jeffrey Bedard president, Michael Needleman vice president

The School District of Springfield Township Board of School Directors elected Jeffrey Bedard as board president and Michael Needleman as vice president during its Dec. 3 reorganization meeting at Springfield Township Middle School auditorium. Dr. Karen Tarateski served as temporary president while nominations were conducted.
Bedard was nominated as the sole candidate and was elected by acclamation after the temporary president called for the vote. “Thank you very much. I appreciate your confidence from the board and, obviously, take the responsibility very seriously,” Jeffrey Bedard said after his election.
Michael Needleman was also the only nominee for vice president and was elected by acclamation. Following the leadership elections, the board announced it would retain the same committee assignments for the coming year; committee rosters will be posted on the district website.
Board members noted that Bedard was attending the meeting by Zoom because of a medical issue and that Needleman would preside over the regular portion of the board meeting.
The reorganization notice had been posted pursuant to Section 402 of the Pennsylvania Public School Code of 1949 and advertised in the Intelligencer on Nov. 21, 2024. The district posted connection and participation instructions on its public website, www.sdst.org.
The board moved immediately into its regular meeting after adjourning the reorganization session.
