KAYSVILLE, Utah — Student leaders from Davis High School asked the Kaysville City Council Dec. 19 for help promoting a fundraiser and researching names for a proposed military wall honoring alumni who served in the U.S. armed forces.
Addie Matthews and fellow student leaders described the project as a school‑led effort to recognize Davis High alumni and community members who served from World War I to the present. The students said they had set an initial school fundraising goal of $50,000 for a broader set of initiatives they are supporting, but that a dedicated military wall could be built for an estimated $6,000 if designed in a more limited way.
The students said they had raised roughly $17,000 so far and planned to continue fundraising through spring. They asked the council and staff to help spread the word and to assist with research to locate names, photographs and stories to include on the wall. Council members praised the students’ initiative and said the city can help share information to support the campaign.
