The Wagoner City Council on Nov. 3 approved an ordinance to rezone a commercial parcel at 703 East Cherokee from C‑1 to C‑3, a change staff said would allow commercial retail sales including the owner’s planned smoke/vape shop.
Development services staff reported Metro Planning & Zoning had approved the rezoning and recommended the City Council do the same. The property owner told council the structure is existing and will be remodeled for retail use. Council members noted they had not all received the rezoning packet prior to the meeting; staff explained the development services office provided the rezoning packet that day and that zoning for the parcel had passed the prior Metro planning meeting.
Council confirmed required notifications were posted and owners within 300 feet had been notified. No member of the public appeared to speak against the rezoning during council discussion.
The rezoning ordinance passed on a roll call vote. Councilmembers voting yes included Butler, North, Higginbotham, Hamilton, Wagner, Thomas and Wright; Wilson voted no.
