Germantown electors approve $45.75 million levy, $180,000 community services tax and four other measures

Germantown electors approved five resolutions at the Germantown School District annual meeting on Oct. 28, 2025, including a $45,753,148 tax levy for the 2025–26 school year and a $180,000 levy to operate the district’s community services fund.

The measures were presented and voted on by qualified electors following procedural instructions from district counsel. Ballots were paper in most cases; some items began with standing votes. District officials then tallied and announced the results.

Resolutions and results included: a $180,000 levy for community services (Yes 70, No 6, Abstain 3); the 2025–26 school tax levy totaling $45,753,148 (Yes 73, No 5, Abstain 1); authorization for the Board of Education to acquire real estate and facilities by purchase or condemnation when necessary for district purposes (Yes 69, No 11, Abstain 2, 1 blank); approval to keep board member salary at $5,480 annually and to continue expense reimbursement rules (Yes 64, No 16, Abstain 2); and authorization for the Board to set the 2026–27 annual meeting date and location (Yes 77, No 2). All five measures passed.

Motions were moved and seconded by electors during the meeting; the chair directed electors to mark ballots yes, no, or abstain and deposit them in collection containers for counting. The district indicated that paper balloting preserves a transparent record and responds to prior open records requests about vote totals.

The levy covers the general operating fund, debt service (including nonreferendum and referendum debt and the energy-exemption debt just paid off), capital expansion, and the community services fund. District staff confirmed the results in the meeting and reported the individual tallies aloud after each count.

The annual meeting proceeded without extended debate on the individual resolutions. The chair adjourned the meeting at 7:28 p.m.
