Committee approves County Boardroom use for drainage-district workshop on Dec. 15

The Iroquois County Management Services Committee approved a request Oct. 6 to allow a drainage-district workshop in the County Boardroom on Dec. 15.
Staff told the committee that Patrick McCartland worked with the circuit clerk’s office to update drainage-district maps and requested a centralized location for a workshop to share the updated maps with drainage commissioners. Under county policy, non-county entities must have committee or chairman approval to use the boardroom for events during business hours; staff said the requester would provide his own equipment and asked for committee approval.
Committee members discussed capacity limits and the makeup of drainage district commissioners. Staff noted there are about 97 active drainage districts with up to three commissioners each but said it was unlikely all would attend. A motion to approve the Dec. 15 morning workshop was moved, seconded and approved by roll call. Bakken, Crow, Barr, Watts and Perkinson voted yes.
The committee did not place conditions on the room use beyond standard policy requirements and the requester’s obligation to provide equipment and to coordinate with county staff for building access.
