Sandusky Bay Pathway work to finish in December; sidewalk builds to continue next year

City staff updated the Sandusky Boards & Commissions that work on the Sandusky Bay Pathway along Cleveland Road is already under way and is expected to be finished in December.
Staff described the pathway route as running from Heminger Ditch east across to Cleveland Road and then along Cleveland Road to East Shoreway, picking up the existing path the city has been working on. Sidewalk construction beyond the current segment — extending to Cedar Point Drive — was described as planned for next year. As part of a roundabout project the city received safety funds to add a sidewalk on the north side now and the south‑side sidewalk would be added in about two years.
Commissioners asked whether the bridge and its existing sidewalk would be widened; staff said the roundabout will be west of the bridge and that the bridge sidewalk will remain and is presumed to have been built to ODOT’s 4‑foot standard, though staff said they had not measured it. No formal approvals or detailed engineering plans were voted on at this meeting.
