At the Sept. 22 meeting Trustee Bhatia reported on sessions she attended at the League of Municipalities conference and recommended staff follow up on grant and funding opportunities.
Bhatia said she attended sessions on strategic visioning, "21st-century investment for municipalities," and "innovative stormwater management and funding opportunity." She told the board she collected handouts and business cards and would give them to staff: "I have all the business cards. I have all the the handout that I collected, which I give to to Tammy, and I encourage, each 1 of us, if we have the time and if we don't have any conflict, to attend these conferences and to learn and bring home best practices to share with our community." She also referenced a presenter and materials about an "innovation grant" program that she said totaled $300,000,000 and a session on grants to support cybersecurity priorities.
Bhatia urged staff to pursue available stormwater funding and innovation-grant opportunities and said she would share contact information with staff for follow-up. The transcript does not record any formal board action or commitments of municipal matching funds; Bhatia described information gathering and encouraged board participation in conferences and grant pursuit.
Bhatia concluded her remarks and the board moved to adjourn.
