At the Sept. 8 meeting council members considered two proposals for appointment of the municipal auditor for the 2024 audit year.
One motion recommended Lerch Vincy Bliss, with proponents saying the firm has institutional knowledge of the township and staff and could complete the audit in the short timeframe remaining in the year. Opponents argued for soliciting a firm not previously engaged with the township. A counter motion nominated Suppli, Cooney & Company.
The motions were seconded and put to roll call. The votes were divided; the record shows council members cast opposing votes on the competing motions. The council did not reach a unanimous appointment during the meeting and recorded the roll-call outcomes for the two motions in the minutes.
