Resident urges county action on erosion, heavy traffic on NS 2860 Road in Kingfisher County

Cyndi Ice, a Kingfisher County resident, told the Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 18 that erosion along NS 2860 Road within District 1 and inadequate drainage have created unsafe conditions because of heavy truck traffic. "I didn't feel as if it would fix the issue," Ice said after receiving a copy of an H&H study from CED #8.
Commissioner Jeff Moss said county staff and OKIE marked utility lines in the area and that he would continue working on a drainage solution, but he cautioned that changes could shift drainage patterns because the location is downhill. Sheriff Aaron Pitts said his deputies are aware of the high truck traffic on that stretch and that he would ask deputies to continue patrolling the area.
Dorothy Hallock, another resident, raised a separate safety concern about cottonwood trees blocking drivers' sight lines; staff reported that the obstruction had been addressed before the meeting.
The remarks came during the meeting's public-comment period; no formal motion or funding decision for road work was recorded at the meeting. Commissioners said they would pursue further review of the drainage options and coordination with county road staff.
