Daviess County commissioners voted to approve a contract with Placer to provide visitor‑origin and event analytics intended to improve the county’s marketing return on investment.
Amber Warden presented the proposal, saying the service can track where visitors come from and whether they attend events or patronize businesses. She told the board the service would begin "immediately" once the contract is signed and proposed returning with an initial report in December. "If we sign it today, when would you start the service?" a commissioner asked. Warden replied: "Today. Yes." The county discussed training and a follow‑up presentation at the Dec. 9 commissioners meeting.
The contract term and termination language were discussed; Warden noted either party may terminate after a material breach and that a 12‑month consecutive calendar breach would be treated as cause for termination. Commissioners expressed interest in early performance metrics, and one commissioner said the investment — cited in discussion at roughly $16,500 — should be justified by clearer marketing‑spend targeting.
Commissioner Keith moved to approve the contract; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously by voice vote.
The county plans to evaluate Placer’s data to better target marketing (for example, billboards or digital ads where a measurable share of visitors originate). Staff agreed to return with findings in December and to ensure the new director (if in place) is briefed on the tool.
