The Rockville Planning Commission scheduled a work meeting for September to begin reviewing the town’s land-use code, with particular attention to Chapter 5 (grading and excavation), and to finalize revised special-event and temporary-use permit forms and checklists.
Commissioners said they have collected notes and flagged definitions (for example, footprint) and form improvements (requiring applicants to cite the page numbers supporting checked boxes). Staff said updated chapter drafts and revised forms will be circulated for commissioner review ahead of the work session. The commission discussed placing inspection-counts on building permits and enforcing payment of inspection fees prior to issuing a certificate of occupancy.
The work session will be an opportunity for commissioners to submit outstanding issues they want the code clarification to address. After the commission’s public review, proposed changes will be forwarded to the town council for adoption in a public hearing.
