Council sets September hearing on MidAmerican easement request for Well No. 15

Staff said the alignment outside the right of way avoids existing utilities and elevation challenges and would reduce installation costs by about $50,000, which the city would otherwise pay.
An easement document was attached to the council packet. The administration recommended setting a public hearing to consider the request. Council moved to adopt a resolution (No. 25-38) establishing a public hearing in September 2025 at 12:00 p.m. The motion was seconded and a roll-call exchange in the record shows at least one yes vote by Councilmember Bruns and Councilmember Wick; the transcript does not list every vote in full in the excerpt.
Staff said the site is currently on platted ground and that the requested easement would fall within yard setback considerations if the lot later develops; staff described no obstacle to allowing the easement with these conditions.
