Bend‑LaPine unveils financial dashboards, begins ERP evaluation to automate payroll and position control

Dan Emerson, chief financial officer for Bend‑LaPine Administrative SD 1, told the board Aug. 12 that the district has developed financial dashboards that will give principals and office managers budget‑to‑actual views, transactional detail and near‑real‑time FTE figures. The tools are intended to provide greater transparency and reduce time spent digging through raw accounting transactions.
Emerson also summarized ongoing enterprise resource planning (ERP) work. Finance and HR completed current‑state process mapping over the summer and are working with a national consultant on interactive process mapping, future‑state recommendations and product evaluation. The goals include payroll automation, better position control, and module optimization with the district’s Business Plus accounting system; Emerson said product evaluation will conclude around December with testing possibly beginning in January.
He credited IT for supporting dashboards and ERP work and described the implementation as a large, multi‑month operational project.
