The Planning and Zoning Commission approved a specific use permit and site plan for a new auto paint shop at 2439 Dalworth Street on July 28.
June, planning staff, described the proposal as a single‑tenant building containing four work bays, a lobby and office area. Staff said the site meets density, dimensional and parking requirements and provides required street trees and landscaping. The DRC recommended approval with two conditions: (1) paint work only at the site (auto body work is not allowed there unless separately permitted) and (2) operations must comply with the city’s automotive operation regulations in Article 13 of the Code of Ordinances, including annual inspections and renewals where applicable.
Jonathan Saldana and other supporters spoke in favor and described the owner’s small‑business background and intention to keep heavier bodywork at the existing Arlington facility. A commissioner representing the district moved to close the public hearing and approve SUP25-02-0009 with the DRC recommendations; Commissioner Coley seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Approval allows the applicant to pursue building permits and construct the single‑tenant paint shop consistent with the operational limits and annual inspections required by city code.
