Committee directs staff to request conveyance of small parcel from City of Wausau at Marathon Park

Staff told the committee they discovered a sliver of land inside Marathon Park adjacent to the highway department that is still legally owned by the City of Wausau despite long-standing county maintenance and use. Preston and Robert (staff experts) presented title research demonstrating the mismatch between historical operations and current legal ownership.
Chair Gibbs moved and Supervisor Poole seconded a motion directing staff to request conveyance of the parcel from the City of Wausau to Marathon County. Committee members said the county's long-running maintenance of the parcel and the existing fencing and use made formal conveyance appropriate. The motion carried by voice vote.
Staff will enter discussions with Wausau about a formal transfer and will report back to the committee on any required documentary steps and timing.
