Separately, a commissioner informed the body that Corporal Fred L. Griffin of the sheriff's office died on July 5 after a battle with cancer and extended condolences to his family and colleagues; Griffin's spouse works in county fleet management. Commissioners closed the meeting by expressing gratitude for first responders and encouraging public engagement in local government.
