The Finance Committee took several formal actions July 9.
The committee approved a contract between McLean County and Laborers International Union Local 362. Committee members placed the contract on the floor without entering closed session and recorded the outcome as "the motion carries with 3 ayes and 1 nay." The motion was moved by Member Fagan and seconded by Vice Chair Friedrich.
Earlier in the meeting the committee approved the consent agenda (minutes from the June 4 regular meeting and recommended approval of bills and transfers to the County Board) on a motion by Member Fagan and a second by Member Rosamundoza. The committee also voted to accept and place on file the County Treasurer's monthly financial report and approved surplus resolutions for the County Clerk and Animal Services.
Under other business the committee discussed the county's late ACFR/audit and directed administration to submit a formal request to the State's Attorney's Office for a legal opinion on what actions, if any, are available at the county level to compel an elected official to meet statutory obligations. Chair Layman asked county staff to coordinate the request through county counsel and the State's Attorney.
The committee announced two pending settlement matters (case 21CV1129 and matter 25MC1) and moved into closed session for pending litigation.
