County Clerk seeks approval to sell antique cardveyor; office confirms no voter data remain

Cathy Michael and Mary Singer of the McLean County Clerk's Office introduced Mark Singer, director of elections, and asked the Finance Committee to declare a large cardveyor surplus and authorize its sale.
Mark Singer explained a cardveyor historically held paper voter-registration cards and mechanically rotated card files by last-name letter when staff searched a paper record. Committee members asked whether any voter information remained in the machine; Clerk's staff said the device contains no data and all voter records are now stored electronically for election operations. The committee voted to approve the surplus resolution.
Michael reported no additional items from recording and noted the department is busy with marriages, vital records and increasing election preparation activity heading into 2026.
