Donors working with West Valley Little League outlined a plan to expand baseball/softball fields at the Cottonwood campus and install restrooms, concessions and parking. The proposal discussed July 8 would use a parcel east of the existing Cottonwood fields (or the currently little-used soccer field) and would require sewer and water connections if the restrooms are added.
Superintendent Dr. Peter Finch told the board the district has the authority to grant permits but would not sign any agreements without board direction. The proposal is still in early feasibility stages: the league is exploring which parcel to use and what the sewer-line connection costs would be; one option discussed would have the league pay the connection for the new restroom while the district would fund or share any additional work needed to tie Cottonwood into the line.
Board members expressed support for additional community athletic fields but asked staff to return with firm cost estimates and a clear parcel plan before approving any long-term commitments or infrastructure cost-sharing. No formal action or agreement was taken on July 8.
