Council advances final review of mobile-vendor ordinance; legal review requested before advertising

Staff said the draft includes an application process, insurance requirements and a requirement that the borough be named as additional insured on vendor policies.
The ordinance has been worked on for months and is intended to address food trucks, temporary vendors at festivals and recurring event vendors. Staff said it would circulate the application form and asked legal counsel to conduct a final review before the ordinance is advertised for public comment. "If we can have him do a final review, that's fine," a council member said.
Council members said the ordinance is necessary to provide consistent rules for events such as the car show and Riverfest and to protect public safety and borough liability. No vote was taken; staff expected to forward the draft to legal for review and to return with an updated version for advertisement and public hearing.
