Board schedules director contract review; superintendent reports preliminary assessment gains

Mark Nolan presented a first reading that the board annually reviews the director’s contract and evaluation and that the board will consider a contract extension for an additional year in two weeks. Nolan noted that state law requires a contract for the director and that such a contract "cannot be longer than 4 years." The item was placed on the agenda for future consideration; no vote was taken at this meeting.
Separately, Doctor Lenebitter addressed the board with an update on preliminary state assessment results. Lenebitter said that, based on preliminary data from every test taker in the district, the district is "extremely optimistic of the initial achievement results of our students that are indicating we have achievement gains in every area." Lenebitter added that the district will examine growth data to provide a more complete picture and will share detailed results with administrators, teachers and the board upon return from summer break.
No formal personnel action was taken at this meeting; the contract-extension question will return for board consideration in a future meeting.
