State lawmaker and residents praise St. Clair County medical director; county health actions highlighted

State Representative Jamie Greene presented a written tribute to Dr. Remington Nevin, medical director of the St. Clair County Health Department, on behalf of several state lawmakers and read a letter praising his leadership on local public-health matters.

The tribute credited Dr. Nevin with restoring trust in local health institutions and said he had recommended proactive local regulation to prohibit the addition of fluoride and certain other additives to public water systems, and had raised health concerns about industrial-scale solar developments and data centers proposed in the county. Greene read that ‘‘Doctor Nevinhas shown what it means to lead with courage when it is difficult, to speak truth when it is inconvenient, and to put people before politics at every turn.’’ Representative Jamie Greene read the tribute to the committee.
