Councilman Spinoza, sponsor of the resolution, read the text into the record, saying, "Whereas cities aren't just built on concrete and steel, they're built on vision, on grit, and on the dreams of those willing to take risks and lift others as they rise." The resolution text, read aloud at the meeting, credited the Bartosh brothers with positioning Memphis as a hub for innovation and hospitality, noted Wiseacre's 2013 opening, and cited the business's work on sustainability and local hiring.
The council approved the recognition by acclamation and paused for photos. Councilman Green added personal congratulations, noting he had known the honorees since high school. One of the honorees thanked the council and said they were "honored to be here," noted their Memphis roots and that they raise their families in the city.
