County accepts $230,000 Idaho Department of Lands grant, partners with Timberlake Fire District for hazardous-fuel treatments

The Kootenai County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 18 accepted a $230,000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Idaho Department of Lands for hazardous fuel hand-treatment in the Greater Apple area and agreed to a $23,000 in-kind match through administrative time and community outreach in partnership with Timberlake Fire District.
Andrea Littlefield, presenting for the Office of Emergency Management, said the grant total is $230,000 and the in-kind match will be met through administrative time and on-the-ground community outreach in partnership with Timberlake Fire District.
"Before you is the MOU between Kootenai County and Idaho Department of Land for hazardous fuel treatment to take place in the Greater Apple area. The grant total is for $230,000 and an in-kind match of $23,000 to be met through administrative time and on the ground community outreach in partnership with Timberlake Fire District," Littlefield said.
The board approved the MOU by voice vote. Commissioner Eberlein voted Aye. Commissioner Duncan voted Aye. Chair Metari voted Aye.
The meeting record did not include detailed work plans or schedules; staff will implement the project in coordination with the Idaho Department of Lands and Timberlake Fire District under the MOU's terms.
