Planning Commission elects new chair and vice chair; minutes approved with correction

The Springfield Planning Commission elected Commissioner Driggs as chair and Commissioner Shmunk as vice chair for the remainder of the current term following Chair Buck’s appointment to the City Council and his subsequent resignation from the commission.
Staff noted the commission will re-evaluate leadership and liaison roles at the start of the calendar year when two new commissioners are expected to be appointed by council. The commission also approved minutes from the Oct. 7, 2025 meeting after a commissioner noted and requested a correction to record an ex parte contact disclosure.
No formal ballot counts or roll-call vote tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript for either action; commissioners indicated their assent by voice. Staff said the housing-and-design governance committee had a vacancy and Commissioner Ackland agreed to serve on that committee.
