The Sun City West Budget & Finance Committee on Nov. 4 introduced Herschel Workman as a new staff member supporting CIP and capital projects.
"My name is Herschel Workman. I come here to Sun City West from the town of Wickenburg where I was previously the public works director for the last seven years," Workman said, describing a 33-year career at the Federal Aviation Administration as a civil engineer and construction project manager. He said he retired from Wickenburg on Thursday and "started work here on Monday." Workman told the committee he has been shown the ropes and expects to meet and work with committee members in the near future.
Anne Bechnell, committee chair, welcomed Workman and noted staff had already given him the nickname "Carl 3." The committee did not take any formal action on the hire; the item was an introduction and orientation.
What's next: Workman will continue onboarding, meet capital-project stakeholders and participate in future capital planning discussions.
