Escambia County board approves several contractor licensing requests

The Escambia County Contractor Competency Board voted to approve multiple contractor licensing requests during its meeting.

Logan Ontovid was authorized to take the master plumber with gas examination after staff presented his apprenticeship certificate and an Alabama journeyman and master plumber license; staff recommended approval based on his submitted experience. The board moved and approved Ontovid’s application by voice and hand raise (motion carried at 00:16:48).

Melissa Freeman was permitted to sit for the unlimited roofing examination after staff verified her experience and qualifications but deferred final action to the board because Freeman answered “yes” on a financial/criminal-history questionnaire and provided a court record and written explanation; the board approved allowing her to take the roofing exam (motion carried at 00:20:06). Freeman told the board she has worked in the roofing industry since childhood and has supervised crews and hurricane-response work.

Craig Marshall was approved to reciprocate an Okaloosa County air-conditioning license after staff verified nearly seven years of journeyman-level experience and submitted W-2 forms; the board voted to approve reciprocity (motion carried at 00:22:39).

William Wesley Tolbert was approved to reciprocate a master plumber with gas license from Santa Rosa County after staff reviewed prior work history, test scores and references and deferred to the board for reciprocity; the board approved reciprocity (motion carried at 00:26:18).

Ronald (Ron) Jansen was granted reinstatement of a previously inactive license after staff verified documentation; the board approved reinstatement (motion carried at 00:28:03).
