Parole granted to Andrew Senegal with Parole Project placement and treatment conditions

The Committee on Parole granted parole Nov. 4 to Andrew Senegal (DOC 534132) and directed that he enter the Louisiana Parole Project’s residential reentry program.
Senegal has served approximately two decades in custody, has a long trustee and job history in the institution and a largely clean disciplinary record; counsel and family members described his rehabilitation. The Parole Project committed to an initial period of residential case management and employment support; family and an employer letter described a job offer in Abbeville.
Board members required special conditions including a minimum residential Parole Project period (the panel suggested six months to one year depending on social-work assessment), weekly attendance at AA meetings initially and outpatient substance-abuse treatment as needed, and a no-contact order with a listed co-defendant. The board said eligibility and statutory steps must be satisfied prior to release.
