The Committee on Parole denied parole Nov. 4 to Christopher Thomas (DOC 774333), who is serving a sentence for vehicular homicide after a crash that resulted in the death of Alexis Robinson.

Thomas told the board he has accepted responsibility, identified alcoholism as a problem and described participation in AA and other reentry programming. Several family members of the victim addressed the panel and described the long-term harm caused by the loss, urging the board to deny early release.

Board members noted Thomas’s participation in classes and trustee work but also cited strong and persistent opposition from the victim’s family, local prosecutor statements, and the proximity of Thomas’s statutory release date. The panel voted to deny parole and asked Thomas to continue in substance-abuse programs and prepare for his scheduled mandatory release and good-time date.
